Facebook has announced that now all the videos in social networks by default will be played using the HTML5 player, regardless of browser used. The company believes that this standard better meets the requirements of the service from the point of view of security and optimization, unlike Flash.

Completely away from Flash in Facebook there are no plans, because based on this technology are popular among many users of the social network game.

Recall that in January this year Google started to use the default HTML5 player for embedded YouTube video instead of Flash. The update applies to Chrome, IE 11, Safari 8 and beta versions of Firefox.

And earlier this month, Adobe itself has urged web developers to abandon Flash and use modern web standards such as HTML5. In addition, the company's flagship product, Flash Professional CC was renamed Animate CC. The name change will help to position it as a more versatile tool.
