More than 10% of the one million sites unsafe

In the course of the analysis of these sites revealed that 108,781 of the proven resources (which is 10.9% of the total) are in a serious security or infected with malicious software at the moment.

Most recently, the company Sucuri, which is the world's leading specialist in the field of computer security, has published the results of their study, which analyzed the safety of millions of resources that are major sites of the World Wide Web, which in turn are represented in the ranking Alexa. In the course of the analysis of these sites revealed that 108,781 of the proven resources (which is 10.9% of the total) are in a serious security or infected with malicious software at the moment.
The main results of this test are as follows (number of checks does not intersect, all tests were conducted with a specific sequence, once triggered criterion, the site was added to the current category):

• 2% of the tested sites (18 557) included in the black list of known search engines and anti-virus companies. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that Yandex (2154 website blocked) blocks the order of magnitude more resources than Google (357). Among the leading anti-virus companies Mcafee, this company was blocked by 11 thousand sites;

• 67,509 (7%) are created and work on older web platforms that contain a lot of vulnerabilities. These sites are not infected, but are at increased risk and may be attacked at any moment. The most common platforms are not updated: WordPress (55 thousand sites), followed by Joomla (5334), Magento (2550), vBulletin (1875) and Drupal (1789). And it is only by considering the basic properties of these platforms. When testing does not take into account the vulnerability of various add-ons and plug-ins;

  

• 4836 (0.5%) sites contain hidden SIO-spam that is embedded on the site without the owners' knowledge;
• 44,317 (4% of the one million sites) affected by malware that seeks to strike a custom system. And these sites are not included in the black list. The most popular are the unauthorized insertion into the code-based Blackhole Exploit kit (they were infected 3 million sites), followed by various iFrame and insert conditional redirects to malicious content.
